FAQ for EAP Orientation

Below are responses to some of the most commonly asked questions by EAP Reciprocity students. We hope you find them helpful!


Q: Do I have to attend the EAP Reciprocity Orientation in September? [show/hide]

A: Yes. The EAP Reciprocity Orientation in September is mandatory.

Q: If I am living on campus during the school year, what is the earliest I can move in? [show/hide]

A: Monday, September 22nd from 10:00am to 3:00pm Pacific Standard Time. You may arrive no more than 30 days prior to the date printed on your visa certificate of eligibility (DS-2019). Students who do not have pre-arranged housing are advised to arrive as early as possible.

Q: How and where do I register? [show/hide]

A: By Saturday, August 9th, confirm your participation on your MyUCSC portal. The International Orientation link on your MyUCSC portal's Main Menu will direct you to the reservation page. Choose the EAP Reciprocity option. You will have a one-time option to pay with credit card when you register online.

Q: What are the dates for the EAP Reciprocity Orientation in September? [show/hide]

A: The two-day program is from September 25-26 (7:30am - 10:00pm Pacific Standard Time). Students living on campus will move in to their 2014-2015 assigned dorm room/apartment several days prior to the program start date. Between September 22-24, students will to participate in programming with orientation leader support.

Q: What does the $95 program fee cover? [show/hide]

A: The $95 program fee goes towards the September 25-26 programming expenses only. Fee does NOT include meals or housing. Students living on campus are billed separately via the Early Move-in program for meals and housing costs.

Q: I have registered for the Orientatin, how do I pay the fee? And, when is the payment due?? [show/hide]

A: Always include your first and last name, and your UCSC 7-digit ID number. Payment is due by the first day of your orientation. You have a few payment options available.

1- Paying with check or money order. Include your UCSC 7-digit student ID number on a check or money order, then send payment to:

All payments must be made in US Dollars. Do not send cash. UCSC accepts payments by money orders or check drawn on a US bank.

2- The UCSC Cashier's Office will also send you a billing statement with amount owed and payment instructions.

3- Pay on the first day of your orientation, pay with a check or money order (in US dollars)


Q: How do I prepare for class enrollment? [show/hide]

A: Use the Frosh Advising Guide along with other communications you have received from your advisers to prepare for enrollment in classes.

Q: When can I enroll for classes? [show/hide]

A: You can find the specific time that you may begin enrolling (your "enrollment appointment") in your MyUCSC Student Portal. You can enroll once your appointment time begins. Please note that if you are enrolling from a different time zone, you will need to convert your enrollment appointment time to your local time.

Q: How do I find my adviser? [show/hide]

A: You have a college adviser and a department (major) adviser. Your college adviser will begin to communicate via email starting in May. Please read through all the information sent by your college adviser.

Q: When should I arrive to the United States? [show/hide]

A: UC Santa Cruz is located near multiple International airports. Most students choose to fly to the San Jose International Airport due to its close proximity to the University campus.
